Indigo Sky Casino held a soft opening on Wednesday, September 5, allowing the public a first look at the interior of the casino and its amenities. Having anxiously awaited their opening for months, I drove down around 4:00pm and took some time to take pictures of their rustic lodge exterior.

This is a beautiful property nestled back off Hwy 60 just outside of Seneca, OK/MO, although the address lists it as Wyandotte, OK. It offers visitors elegantly landscaped grounds as you drive up its main entrance, an abundance of outside parking with the option to valet, and several entrance areas if you want to avoid the main entrance crowds. On the east side of the grounds is their Whispering Woods RV Park offering 44 spots with hookups and a clubhouse with multiple amenities for guests, including access to the pool.

Indigo Sky’s hotel is currently taking reservations for October, 2012; however, casino guests are welcome to check out the hotel lobby area and may even request a viewing of a hotel room. 117 rooms are available offering upscale decor in warm, inviting colors.

2. The Indigo Sky Hotel is modern and features 98 rooms and 19 suites. In the 45,000 sq ft casino, you can choose between 1,200 slot machines, nice table games and a poker room. You can find lots of games there, like the Double Deck Blackjack, the Six Deck Blackjack, Roulette and the Craps.

Upon entering the main casino entrance, I noticed right away that many slot machines were not turned on or had malfunction messages. As this was their first operational testing event, many technicians and attendants circulated the room to assist players and monitor machine operations. Out of approximately 1300 slots, I would guess about half were not working this particular evening. Despite the crowds, however, it didn’t seem that many people were wandering aimlessly, and I was able to find a variety of machines to try out. One very big plus was exactly that…the variety of machines was extensive. While familiar slot “faces” abounded, there were many I had not seen elsewhere yet…which makes me anxious to return and try them out when they’re all turned on. One on my list was the Beverly Hillbillies new penny slot game, 2 of the 3 machines were in service, but were continuously occupied. Sky offers all denominations, with familiar VGT, AGS, and Rocket games available among the more Vegas-style games.

As I meandered slowly around the exterior of the gaming area, I passed Shawanoe restaurant, their only true dine-in, offering southwestern fare. I did notice there was another exterior entrance to this restaurant and unlike many casino restaurants, a lot of windows to lighten up the dining area. Just past the restaurant was a nice, enclosed Cantina & Tequila bar offering guests a more secluded social drinking space. Three Sisters, a familiar name from Bordertown Casino, currently offers a “food court” experience with 3 stations offering sandwiches, pizza, and grilled fare.

Just past the Cashier cage is the secluded Bingo room…

A bright airy space, the bingo room offers a smoking and non-smoking area for players with multiple media screens throughout for games called. Sky grill offers snack bar foods for hungry guests.

Also still available is the off-track betting area and Texas Hold-em in separate rooms.

A very Vegas-style feature in the casino is the Echo Bar, which grabs the eye with its eclectic blue chandelier and cut glass bar face, with matching accents throughout.

In the middle of the casino, close to the main entrance, are 12 table games offering blackjack, Crazy 4, texas hold-em, 3 card poker, and a few others. Most minimum bets looked to be $10.

The Players Club is just to the left of the main doors with a small, slightly enclosed High Limit Room beyond that. As a previous Bordertown player, I was curious as to how they would honor points, rewards, etc. My understanding is that points will transfer under their new card system; however, my free play had not at the time of my visit. Player’s Club Reps assured me that glitches would be worked through quickly. I will post more information as I receive it as player’s reward programs are at the top of my list as to why to frequent certain casinos.

Overall, this new property was easy on the eyes, with lots of space to maneuver as a player and plenty of choices in gaming, dining and socializing. While I did witness quite a few jackpots despite the limited number of machines operational (98 jackpots were paid out in the 12 hours they were open)….I didn’t hit anything big, but there was still plenty for me to enjoy at Indigo Sky and still walk away feeling like a winner!
